Dr. Kenneth Afenya

Internal Medicine and Nephrology Specialist

Dr. Kenneth Afenya, MD is an Internal Medicine and Nephrology Specialist located in Lexington, KY with over 15 years of experience. Dr. Afenya graduated from University of Ghana Medical School in 2003. He is affiliated with Baptist Health Lexington and St. Joseph Hospital. He received an award of Best Internal Medicine Resident of the Month at The Brooklyn Hospital Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2009. He completed his fellowship training in Nephrology at the University of Kentucky. He currently holds membership in the Renal Physicians Association and the American Society of Nephrology.

Jennifer Vaughan

Jennifer Vaughan is from Western part Washington State originally. She moved to Kentucky with her family 10 years ago in search of land, friendly people, and relief from sitting in traffic. She is a graduate of the University of Washington, where she received her Baccalaureate degree in Nursing.

She has 27 years of experience in healthcare. She has been a nurse’s aide, LPN, RN, and is currently a family nurse practitioner. She has worked in long-term care facilities, and adult family homes. She has over 13 years of experience as a Hemodialysis RN both in clinics and in the hospital.

She received her Master’s degree in the Rural Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Eastern Kentucky University in 2023. As a provider, she has worked in an immediate care clinic. She is glad to get back to primary care and kidney care, as this is where she believes she has greatest impact in helping clients reach their health goals.

Her interests include hiking, camping, reading, and travelling.
